How did you find your current vocation?
Michel: Because of my passion for baking and my grandfather, who was also a baker, I decided to do a baking apprenticeship. I completed this at Bumann Bakery, where I’ve been working ever since and am now a co-owner. I love the profession because it’s still a proper craft and allows you to be creative.
Salome: At first, I didn’t want to become a baker, but then I decided to go for it due to a lack of alternatives on the apprenticeship market, and I’m very happy with that decision today.
Which three adjectives would your friends use to describe you?
Michel: Creative, reliable, and warm-hearted.
Salome: Animal-friendly, helpful, and always busy.
What does an evening with your friends look like and what ends up on the table?
Michel: Pretzels with a good wine and, for dessert, the best Linzertorte in the world – made by us, of course.
Salome: I enjoy an evening with my friends at a lavish Apéro and something nice to toast with.
How do you enrich the lives of people in the neighbourhood through your work?
We believe that with our small, independently run bakery, we make an important contribution to neighbourhood life and hope to continue doing so for a long time to come.
