Where do you feel most at home in the neighbourhood?
I love spending time in the Kasernenareal. I enjoy having a coffee or a beer at the KaBar – or sitting on the grass with a book. The area has a lively atmosphere where I always enjoy spending time. The proximity to the Rhine makes it one of my absolute favourite spots: Knowing that the water is glistening just a few steps away is wonderful.
If I could change one thing in my neighbourhood, I would …
… turn the Kasernenareal into a nature parkour and a ‘plant living room’. The urban plants help combat the heat in summer whilst also allowing children to learn about our ecosystem in a playful way. By the way, the idea comes from an exhibition here at the kHaus by the Bachelor’s programme in Interior Design and Scenography at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst. They explored the challenges and potential of the Kasernenareal.
What does an evening with your best friends at your place look like, and what do you talk about?
We start with a nice aperitif, followed by a vegetarian meal. Often, lots of different dishes are brought to the table for us to share and put on our plates. Bibimbap, dim sum or hot pot – I love diverse cuisine from all over the world! And as is usually the case: When we’re eating, we mostly talk about food. We swap recipes and tell each other what we want to try next.
